Dr. Ryll Lab
Dr. Ryll Lab GmbH was founded in Berlin in 2017. In 2018, the company was appointed as a state-approved testing laboratory for gas measuring instruments. This qualifies Dr. Ryll Lab GmbH to calibrate gas measuring instruments and to officially certify test gases. In 2020, Dr. Ryll Lab GmbH-Austria was founded in Tulln. It is primarily responsible for business in Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
The company's core competencies lie in the area of manufacturer-independent maintenance and the planning and construction of analytical measurement technology and gas quality measurement systems, gas analytics and technical project consulting. We have one of the most modern laboratories for hydrogen quality analysis in Europe.
As the first company on the market, we are able to measure the hydrogen quality directly on site in real time according to ISO 14687, SAEJ2719 or DIN EN 17124 with our mobile laboratory.
In order to meet the constantly changing demands of the market, we are involved in various research and development projects. In addition to the already successfully implemented development of a mobile testing laboratory for hydrogen quality, we are developing production plants for the manufacture of hydrogen, e.g. from natural gas or ammonia, as well as for the production of e-fuels based on microwave plasma analysis. These future activities will be bundled into H2Plas GmbH, which was founded in 2021.
Hydrogen Competence Centre
Hydrogen, especially for use in hydrogen mobility, is subject to very high quality standards. In addition to the 5.0 quality defined in the industrial gases sector, standards and guidelines such as ISO 14687, SAEJ2719 or DIN EN 17124 apply. In the cooperation between producers and buyers, a clear quality standard is the basis for billing but also for product liability. Seamless quality assurance along the entire value chain can protect against unpleasant surprises and high follow-up costs.

Analytics and Sampling
In our laboratory, which is equipped with the latest measuring technology, we determine various gas accompanying substances in hydrogen (e.g. in accordance with DIN EN 17124), natural gas and biogas, synthetic gases (SNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). If required, our service team will provide you with a sampling kit and a transport box and will handle the shipping and collection for you. If you wish, we can also take care of the sampling for you directly on site. With the help of our custom test chambers, we can analytically assess the extent to which materials emit undesirable components, such as sulphur compounds under varying temperature and pressure conditions.
Service and Maintenance
Our competent and experienced team provides a wide range of service and maintenance work on analytical measurement technology and gas quality measurement systems. In addition to repairs, revisions, replacement of parts or calibrations and adjustments of PGCs, this also includes a fault clearance service with associated on-call service. As a state-approved test centre for gas measuring instruments, we are also happy to take care of the calibration and adjustment of the measuring systems on site. We are the only company on the market that can offer you an "all-round worry free package".
Engineering and Consulting
We support you with our many years of experience in the gas industry in the design, planning and installation of gas quality monitoring systems. Together, we define suitable measured values for monitoring your processes. We put together the appropriate measurement technology and install it on your premises. As a manufacturer-independent company, we can work with our customers to develop the best possible solution for analytical process monitoring, taking into account quality, investment and operating costs.
State Recognised Test Centre
As a state-approved test centre for measuring instruments for gas in Germany, we certify a wide range of test and calibration gas mixtures for our customers. Furthermore, we maintain state-recognised test centres in the federal states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Hamburg, Bremen, Thuringia, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony and Bavaria, where we are authorised to calibrate gas quality and calorific value measuring instruments for gas, as well as to calibrate additional equipment for measuring instruments for gas.
Mobile Gas Quality Measurement
The manifold changes in the gas market pose new challenges for network operators. One consequence of this development is that the gas quality will be subject to far greater fluctuations within the permissible limits of the DVGW regulations. In order to be able to react flexibly to the fluctuating gas quality of the network, Dr. Ryll Lab GmbH provides for the rental, among other things, of a mobile low-cost gas quality measurement equipped with calibrated gas measurement technology for the validation of results (REKO and SmartSim method).
Development of Production Plants based on Microwave Technology
H2Plas GmbH was founded in June 2021 and is a 100% subsidiary of Dr. Ryll Lab GmbH. H2Plas GmbH develops plants for the production of: Hydrogen, Carbon, Synthesis Gas (E-Fuels) and Acetylene based on carbon-containing feedstocks (e.g. natural gas or biomethane) using microwave plasma technologies. Since the energy efficiency for the production of hydrogen is physically/chemically about 8 times more favourable than for electrolysis, microwave plasma technology offers a another process for hydrogen production.
